Glossary definition

Citation Rate

Citation Rate measures how often a brand domain or supporting source is cited inside AI-generated answers.

Why it matters

Citations show whether a website is becoming an information source that AI systems use to support answers.

How it is measured or used

Divide the number of answer snapshots with relevant citations by the total number of snapshots checked.

Example

If answerroute.com is cited in 8 of 30 prompts, its citation rate is 26.7% for that baseline.

FAQ

Can a brand be ranked without being cited?
